Mariners face big test tonight with Erasmo Ramirez pitching

Pretty much the same lineup for the Mariners every day now, which is what happens when you win seven in a row. Tonight, the Mariners will try to make it eight straight, which they haven’t done since last August. It will be a huge test, with Erasmo Ramirez taking the mound.

Ramirez was called back up from AAA today, with Bobby Lafromboise optioned back out to make room.

Ramirez did not look good his first time out against Boston a couple of weeks ago, blowing a lead and giving up seven runs while walking four. He walked six in a Class AAA outing prior to that.

So yes, a test indeed.

But if the Mariners get past this hurdle? Well then, things will get real interesting.

Then, they’ll have Joe Saunders, Hisashi Iwakuma and Felix Hernandez going the next three days and all of a sudden, we’re looking at the possibility of a real long, season-defining streak.

Let’s see whether the Mariners make it happen here.
