Nick Franklin back in Mariner lineup

Nick Franklin is back at second base after two days off, trying to break out of his 0-for-24 stretch. Robby Thompson didn’t want to throw him in against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey yesterday, but he’ll face a conventional pitcher tonight, the struggling former All-Star Josh Johnson. He’s 1-8 with a 6.60 ERA, and gave up 10 hits and seven runs in 2 1/3 innings against the Angels in his last start.

The Mariners will counter with Felix Hernandez, who has gone 12 starts since his last loss. He’s 6-0 with a 2.11 ERA in tht stretch.
