Hisashi Iwakuma is coming off arguably his finest outing of the season last week in Detroit, where he beat the Tigers 8-0 and allowed just four hits over eight innings. His 2.76 ERA is the fifth lowest in franchise history for a pitcher throwing 162 innings or more.

He’s also become one of only five Japanese pitchers to ever log at least 200 innings in a season.

Tonight, he faces Ervin Santana, so this could be another mound duel.
