Sights and sounds from Tuesday’s workout: Taijuan Walker throws long toss, Jesus Montero at first base

It’s a shorter sights and sounds post since the workout was a little truncated today. I plan on shooting some video from the intrasquad game later.

In the video, Taijuan Walker plays catch from just over 100 feet. I think he had about 25 throws, not sure what this means going forward. But he is progressing very slowly. In the second part of the video, Jesus Montero takes some ground balls at first base. They weren’t hitting him rockets, but he looked fine there. I will be interested to watch him in the intrasquad game.

I couldn’t get video of it, but Jabari Blash took batting practice in preparation for the game. He is one immense human being, listed at 6-5, 224 pounds and pretty much all muscle. Blash hit 16 homers in Class A High Desert and nine in Class AA Jackson last season. He hit some majestic shots during BP today. Of course, he also had some swings and results (bad pop ups and foul outs) that most top players don’t have in BP. But it was fun to watch.
