Royals 8, Mariners 2 — Cano with three hits in three at-bats

So the Mariners lost. But they weren’t at full strength.  Damn split squad games!  They now fall to 10-4 in the Cactus League standings and still trail Cleveland, which lost today and fell to 9-2 in the Cactus League standings.

So Robinson Cano returned to the line-up and had three hits in three at-bats. He was also picked off and turned a nice double play. It was a full return for Cano.

As I mentioned in the game blog, Cano was basically shutdown from baseball activities for three days so during those three days he hit dry black beans with a broomstick to keep his swing sharp.

Brandon Maurer got the start and worked 2 2/3 innings, three runs, six hits, no walks and a strikeout.

Here’s the highlights of Justin Smoak’s hard sac fly, his ground rule double, a single from James Jones, a double from John Buck and a nice catch by the Royals. Got hustle to Scottsdale for the night game.

line-up for tonight’s game vs. the Diamondbacks ….
