A few notes, links and line-ups for today’s games

Happy National Corndog Day!!!!

Taijuan Walker and Stephen Pryor will now throw in the Class AAA game at 1 p.m. at the Padres complex. They had originally been scheduled to throw in a High A game at the Mariners complex.

With two games, I will be going to Salt River Field to watch the game against the Rockies. Why? Well, McClendon is going to that game and the field and scenery there is, um, fantastic.

Not sure why Corey Hart is not in the lineup. McClendon met with the media before line-ups were posted, but club officials said it was a day off for him. Hart had yesterday off as well.

I assume we’ll see him in the line-up tomorrow. McClendon said that he will start playing players for longer stretches for the next few days.

“We’ll go hard Sunday and Monday and up until the off day,” he said. “Guys can start to expect seven to nine innings every day. Guys will get at-bats in the minor league games.”

Fans in Tacoma hoping to see Taijuan Walker and Hisashi Iwakuma on rehab outings will be disappointed. McClendon said both pitchers will be making their rehab appearances in warm weather places – either High Desert or Jackson.

Brandon Maurer threw a bullpen session on Friday. He will throw another one on Sunday. But he’s not going to be ready to start the season on time.

“He’s really behind,” McClendon said. “Moving forward, it would probably take a miracle to get him ready. He’s still got to throw another bullpen. Then he has to face live hitting and then we hopefully have to have no setbacks.”

Here’s the story from today’s paper on the pitching staff becoming whole again. Here was my guess at the 25-man roster. I will probably change it again later this week.

Jon Heyman has more stuff on Nick Franklin being traded. The Tigers did trade for Andrew Romine.

Erik Bedard will likely make the Rays in some capacity.  It just shows if you are left-handed and can throw a baseball well, you can stay in the big leagues. You don’t even have to like baseball to do it.

Tigers lost Bruce Rondon to Tommy John surgery.

There was an official baseball game this morning/tomorrow/yesterday in Australia … and the Dodgers won.
