Mariners minor league report, April 10

Full minor league report … 04.10.14 Mariners Minor League Report

Taijuan Walker’s road back to the big leagues is getting shorter by the start. Last night, he was outstanding for Class AA Jackson, throwing five scoreless innings and allowing three hits, while striking out 10 and walking one in a 4-2 win in the Generals’ home opener.  And here’s the game story from the Jackson Sun.

Will Walker make that Tuesday start in Texas? Or will it be Blake Beavan?

Beavan turned in his second straight solid start of the season for Class AAA Tacoma. Beavan, who had his start pushed up a day likely in case he’s needed to start for the Mariners in Texas, pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits with with two walks and two strikeouts.

Cole Gillespie gave the Rainiers a 4-3 win with walk-off hit in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Nick Franklin also homered again in that game. Here’s the video.

Class A High Desert welcomed Vlad Guerrero to Adelanto. The former big leaguer and uncle of Maverick outfielder Gabriel Guerrero threw out the first pitch before High Desert’s 10-4 win.

Class A Clinton got a solid start from Edwin Diaz, who tossed five scoreless inning, giving up two hits and striking out eight, while walking two in a 4-1 win over Lake County.
