Mariners minor league report, April 15 – Taijuan Walker starts tonight in Tacoma

04.15.14 Mariners Minor League Report

Taijuan Walker will get the start tonight in Tacoma. So if you aren’t doing you should go to Cheney Stadium. It looks like the rain is supposed to break between 6-7 p.m. so he should pitch tonight.

Brandon Maurer got the start last night for the Rainiers and threw two innings, allowing one run on two hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Maurer was only supposed to throw around 45 pitches as he works his way back into starting shape after being set back with back issues. Maurer threw 49. The Rainiers did prevail 8-6 in the final game of their road trip, thanks to some good innings from the bullpen and Ji-Man Choi delivered the go-ahead run with a double in the ninth.

Nick Franklin had two more hits for the Rainiers last night. He is now hitting .410 (16×39) with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, 3 home runs, 11 RBI, 1 stolen base and 6 walks

Kevin Rivers, Gabe Noriega and Jamal Austin all had RBI singles in the ninth to lead Class AA Jackson to a 6-4 win over the Tennessee Smokies.

Gaby Guerrero hit a two-run homer and had a RBI double in High Desert’s 11-10 win over Lancaster.

Class A Clinton gave up nine runs in the second inning of a 13-5 loss to Dayton.
