Franklin headed back to the Rainiers?

Nick Franklin sent out a tweet after Wednesday’s 5-3 win which indicated that he is headed back to Class AAA Tacoma. The Rainiers begin a road trip in Las Vegas on Thursday.

Franklin started in right field for the Mariners against the Astros on Wednesday — it was his first start in the outfield for the Mariners — and manager Lloyd McClendon said he was looking for Franklin to give the offense a badly needed spark.

Franklin went 1 for 3 with a single, snapping an 0-for-13 skid. But he missed the cutoff man on a play in which the Mariners might have been able to get the runner at the plate.

Franklin is hitting .125 with just two hits in seven games for the Mariners. He played second, third, short and outfield while also DHing.

Correction: I apologize for spelling Rainiers “Rainers” in my previous post. Just a dumb typo.
