 First inning

Michael Saunders laced a one-out double to the right-center gap. But he stayed there. Robinson Cano popped up to short on a 3-1 elevated fastball. Corey Hart lined a ball into right field, but  it was caught. The Mariners are now 1-for-28 with RISP.

Felix Hernandez gave up a two-out single to Trevor Plouffe, but he got Chris Parmalee to ground out to end the inning.

Mariners 0, Twins 0

Second inning

Justin Smoak draws a lead-off walk, but the Mariners don’t advance him to second.

a 1-2-3 inning for Felix

Mariners 0, Twins 0

Third inning

M’s set down 1-2-3

The Twins get a couple a few breaks. Aaron Hicks drew a lead-off walk on a few borderline pitches that weren’t called. Danny Santana was credited with an infield single after an instant replay challenge from Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire  got the out call on his swinging bunt overturned. Felix almost worked out of it, striking out  Dozier and Mauer. But Plouffe dumped a single into center, poking a curveball off the plate into the outfield to score two runs.

Twins 2, Mariners 0

 Fourth inning

So it was an eventful inning. Cano led off with a single and Hart drew a walk. Cano moved to third on Smoak’s deep fly to right. With Seager at the plate, Hart stole second base since they were basically ignoring him at first base. But in the process he appears to have strained his hamstring. So he was replaced my Stefen Romero. Kyle Seager delivered a much-needed RBI single into center to score a run. Ackley struck out , Zunino worked a walk and Brad Miller struck out looking to end the inning.

Felix gives up a two-out hit, but gets out of the inning.

Twins 2, Mariners 1

Fifth inning

The Mariners take a lead. James Jones beat out an infield single when Nolasco was slow off the mound to cover first. Saunders tripled to right to score him from second. Cano then hammered a ball to center that bounced off the base off the wall for a double to score Saunders. M’s lead 3-2

Felix gave up a one-out single but got a 6-4-3 double play.

Note: Nick Franklin has been scratched from the lineup in Tacoma today. He was supposed to start. But instead he’s out. It means he’s likely going to join the team in Texas.

Sixth inning

Ackley led off the inning against Anthony Swarzak. The M’s loaded the bases against Swarzak with two one-out walks. Saunders hit a sac fly to right off of Caleb Thielbar to score Ackley, but Miller made a base running gaffe at second, getting caught in no man’s land and was thrown at second to end the inning

Felix works a 1-2-3 inning

Mariners 4, Twins 2.

Seventh inning

Smoak adds a RBI double to make it 5-2

Eighth inning

Felix works through eight. It looks like he’s done after 97 pitches.

Ninth inning

Cano with fourth hit of the game. But it wasn’t a homer. That was the 25th four-hit game of his career. Not sure how many of those games included homers.  He also hustled home on a wild pitch to score another insurance run. M’s lead 6-2  and The Fernando Rodney Experience is in to pitch. Prepare yourselves accordingly
