Mariners minor league report, May 26 — Jabari Blash hits two homers for Tacoma

Class AAA Tacoma

Even with gloomy and gray conditions, the ball was flying out of Cheney Stadium yesterday. The Rainiers lost 14-12 in a game that featured five homers. Big slugger Jabari Blash hit a grand slam and a two-run homer to drive in six runs in the loss. Here’s video of Blash’s grand slam. (He mashed that 85 mph fastball). Jesus Montero went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Xavier Avery also homered.

Class AA Jackson

The Generals got homers from Mickey Wiswall, Patrick Kivlehan (video) and Jack Marder, while Ketel Marte went 3-for-5 with a triple (video) in a 6-1 win over Jacksonville. Lefty Cam Hobson threw 5 2/3 innings, giving up one run on five hits with a two walks and three strikeouts.

  • From the notes: John Hicks went 0-for-4 snapping his hitting streak at 11 games. During the streak he hit .419 (18×43) with 12 runs scored, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 10 RBI and 4 walks

Class A High Desert

The Mavericks lost 10-5 to Bakersfield as starter Scott DeCucco gave up six runs on eight hits in five innings of work. Jordy Lara and Steven Baron drove in two runs each. Gaby Guerrero had two hits, a double and two stolen bases in the loss.

Class A Clinton

The LumberKings had just five hits and lost 3-2 to Wisconsin.
