Mariners minor league report, May 31 — Peterson, Guerrero and Lara lead High Desert to comeback win

Class AAA Tacoma

Class AA Jackson

The Generals ended their 10-game road trip with a 8-2 loss to Mobile. Lefty Cam Hobson struggled, not making out of the second inning and giving up four runs on two hits with five walks and two strikeouts. Leon Landry had two hits in the loss.

Shipers, 22 has been transferred to High Desert after making 12 appearances, 1 start for Jackson, posting a 0-3 record with a 6.55 ERA. He was placed on the disabled list on May 15th. Shipers, a native of Kansas City, MO was drafted by the Mariners in the 16th round of the 2010 draft.

Snow, 25, has been activated from the suspended list. Snow received a 50-game suspension after a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program on Sept. 17. Last season Snow combined to go 5-5, with a 2.96 ERA between Jackson and AAA Tacoma. Snow was drafted out of the University of Washington in the 36th round in 2010. Snow will make the start on Monday night against Huntsville.

Hernandez, 30 has been placed on the 7-day DL and has appeared in 12 games, 1 start for Jackson going 0-4, with a 5.27 ERA over 27.1 innings pitched. Hernandez was signed as a free agent by the Mariners in 2011.

Class A High Desert

The Mavericks rallied with three runs in the eighth inning to defeat Rancho Cucamonga, 9-8. DJ Peterson had three hits, including two doulbes in the win. Gabriel Guerrero and Jordy Lara hit back-to-back homers in the game.

From the report: Peterson has hit 8 of his 10 home runs this season in his last 18 games (since 5/11). Since May 8, he is batting .333 (30×90) with 19 runs scored, 9 doubles, 8 home runs, 24 RBI and 7 walks. OF Gabriel Guerrero has hit safely in 15 of his last 17 games, batting .353 (24×68) with 14 runs scored, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 11 RBI, 6 walks and 5 stolen base. INF Jordy Lara has hit safely in 12 of his last 15 games, batting .358 (19×53) with 14 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, 15 RBI and 9 walks. 

Class A Clinton

The LumberKings lost 4-1 to Kane County. Austin Wilson drove in Clinton’s only run with a RBI single.
