Mariners minor league report, June 26

Class AAA Tacoma

The Rainiers had an off day sort of. They didn’t play. But they got to catch a bus at 2:30  a.m. this morning to go to Sea-Tac for a 5 a.m. flight to Houston where they wait a few hours and then fly to El Paso to get ready for the game tonight. PCL livin’ right there.

Class AA Jackson

Patrick Kivlehan had three hits and a homer (vide0)  from Dario Pizzano, but the Generals lost 4-2 to the Tennessee Smokies. DJ Peterson’s flight into Jackson was delayed in Dallas. He’s expected to be in the starting line-up tonight. It will be interesting to see how they split up the time at third base and first base between Kivlehan and Peterson.

From the report: Patrick Kivlehan has hit safely in 18 of his last 19 games, batting .431 (31×72) with 13 runs scored, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home run, 20 RBI, 7 walks and 1 stolen base. After going just 4-for-35 in his first 10 Jackson games from May 10-21, Kivlehan has reached base safely in 29 straight games since May 22-June 23, batting .381 (40×105) with 18 runs scored, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, 28 RBI, 14 walks, 3 stolen bases and a .446 OBP. He has raised his season average from .114 to .314. Kivlehan’s 29 consecutive on-base streak is the longest on the team and trails only John Andreoli-TNS (30, 4/6-5/11/14) for the Southern League lead.

Class A High Desert

The Mavs gave up three homers and their late rally fell short  in a 9-6 loss to Rancho Cucamonga.

Class A Clinton

The LumberKings blew a 3-0 lead and lost 4-3 in 12 innings. Zach Shank had three hits and drove in all three of Clinton’s run in the loss.

From the report: INF Zach Shank is batting .342 (26×76) with 14 runs scored, 8 doubles, 2 home runs, 8 RBI, 8 walks and 4 stolen bases in 17 games in June. Since May 30, OF Austin Wilson has hit safely in 7 of 9 games with 5 multi-hit efforts, batting .363 (12×33) with 7 runs scored, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 9 RBI and 3 walks. He has also hit safely 15 of his last 18 games, batting .368 (25×68) with 15 runs scored, 4 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs, 22 RBI, 10 walks and 1 stolen base

Short A Everett

The Aqua Sox lost 4-3 on a walk off homer. Kyle Petty had three hits in the loss.

Rookie League Pulaski

The Mariners lost 8-2 to Elizabethon getting just three hits.
