Mariners minor league report, July 12 — Almonte delivers a walk-off hit for the Rainiers

Class AAA Tacoma

Abraham Almonte delivered  a walk-off hit to give the Rainiers a 3-2 win in 10 innings.

  • From the report1B Jesus Montero has hit safely in 5 out of 8 games (w/AB) with 6 multi-hit efforts in July, batting .439 (18×41) with 7 runs scored, 5 doubles, 2 home runs, 13 RBI and 1 walk. OF Stefen Romero has hit safely in 5 of his last 7 games, batting .355 (11×31) with 5 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 home runs, 9 RBI and 1 walk. INF/OF Ty Kelly has hit safely in 5 of his last 6 games, batting .423 (11×26) with 6 runs scored, 1 double, 2 home runs, 11 RBI and 4 walks. INF Nick Franklin has hit safely in 14 of his last 16 games, batting .313 (20×64) with 7 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 12 RBI and 7 walks. OF Abraham Almonte has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games (w/AB), batting .340 (17×50) with 11 runs scored, 1 double, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 10 RBI and 5 walks.

Class AA Jackson

The Generals got a decent start from Stephen Landazuri and solid relief work from Matt Brazis in a 6-2 win over Birmingham.

Class A High Desert

The Mavs lost 3-1 to Lake Elsinore. Tim Lopes drove in the only run for High Desert. Gabby Guerrero had two hits in the loss.

  • From the report: Jabari Henry has hit safely in 8 of his last 11 games with 5 multi-hit efforts, batting .409 (18×44) with 7 runs scored, 5 doubles, 3 home runs, 11 RBI and 5 walks. Since June 11, Henry has hit safely in 20 of his last 24 games with 11 multi-hit efforts, batting .381 (37×97) with 20 runs scored, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 22 RBI and 12 walks.

Class A Clinton

The LumberKings lost two games in one day - the continued game  from the day before and the scheduled game for the day.

Short A Everett

The Aqua Sox lost 6-2 at Vancouver. Kristian Brito went 3-for-4 with two doubles.

  • From the report:  OF Austin Cousino has hit safely in 7 straight games, batting .276 (8×29) with 5 runs scored, 1 double, 2 home runs, 5 RBI, 3 walks, and 6 stolen bases. SS Jordan Cowan has hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games, batting .333 (17×51) with 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, 5 walks and 1 stolen base. C Luke Guarnaccia currently has a 6-game hit streak, batting .409 (9×22) with 2 runs scored, 1 double, 1 walk and 2 stolen bases.

Rookie League Pulaski

The Mariners dropped a 5-4 game to Danville on a crucial error in the ninth inning.

  • From the reportC Carlton Tanabe has hit safely in each of his last 8 games with 6 multi-hit efforts, batting .516 (16×31) with 6 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple and 10 RBI. Overall this season he has hit safely in 14 of 17 games with an at-bat, batting .388 (26×67) with 12 runs scored, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 11 RBI, 4 walks and 2 stolen bases. 

Rookie League Arizona

The Mariners had just three hits in a 2-0 loss.
