Tuesday’s pregame notes and lineups — Mets at Mariners

Mets lineup isn’t out yet. Here’s the Mariners’ lineup. Willie Bloomquist is back in the lineup for the second straight night even with right-hander Jacob deGrom on the mound. I’m guessing that Bloomquist’s three hits and two runs scored in last night’s win had something to do with it.

Miller is also in a minor funk in the last 10 games.

A couple days off could be beneficial for him.

The Mariners made the roster move official today with Eramso Ramirez being recalled and Justin Smoak sent to Class AAA Tacoma. An interesting side note to Smoak being sent down is that it likely ensures that he won’t achieve 525 plate appearances. Why is that number important? Well according to his contract he signed this spring (details from Cot’s baseball below), Smoak had a guaranteed option for 2015 if he reached 525 plate appearances. So that likely won’t kick in. At this point, there’s 95 percent chance that they won’t tender him a contract next season and just move on.

Never heard of deGrom? Don’t worry, I hadn’tĀ either. Here’s some info. He was rated as the 10th best prospect in the Mets’ organization in 2013 by Baseball America. He wasn’t in the top 10 this year. Here’s pitch values and velocities from Fangraphs – he’s got a fastball, slider, curveball and changeup.

He doesn’t have drastic splits this season
