Mariners minor league report, August 3

Here is today’s Mariners’ minor league round-up, which offers the team’s official minor league report from Kelly Munro that features, notes, stats and box scores. There are also game results on all of the organization’s minor league affiliates that were in action.

 

Class AAA Tacoma

Erasmo Ramirez turned in a solid outing, pitching 6 2/3 innings, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and just one walk in Tacoma’s 5-2 win over AlbuquerqueJustin Smoak hit a pair of doubles and drove in a run in the win.

  • From the report: INF Ty Kelly is batting 545 (6×11) with 2 runs scored, 1 double, 1 home run, 3 RBI and 1 walk in his last 3 games. C Humberto Quintero has hit safely in 16 of 19 games he has appeared since July 3, batting .394 (26×66) with 8 runs scored, 7 doubles, 1 home run, 6 RBI and 1 walk. Since June 13, Quintero is batting .350 (36×103) with 14 runs scored, 8 doubles, 2 home runs, 11 RBI and 1 walk in 26 games. C John Hicks has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games since July 5, batting .362 (17×47) with 8 runs scored, 1 double, 2 home runs, 5 RBI, 2 walks and 2 stolen bases

Class AA Jackson

Starter Stephen Landazuri gave up a pair of two-run homers in the Generals’ 4-3 loss to Montgomery. Ketel Marte and Patrick Kivlehan had two hits each in the loss. Jordy Lara had Jackson’s other hit in the game.

  • From the report: OF Leon Landry has hit safely in 5 of his last 6 games, batting .370 (10×27) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 2 RBI, 2 walks and 1 stole base. Since May 16, Landry has hit safely in 54 of 63 games, batting .340 (85×250) with 42 runs scoed, 17 doubles, 6 triples, 1 home run, 20 RBI, 10 walks and 18 stolen bases. During this 63-game stretch he has raised his season average from .155 to .286. INF Patrick Kivlehan has hit safely in 14 of his last 17 games, batting .355 (22×62) with 10 runs scored, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 14 RBI and 10 walks. He also has hit safely in 19 of his last 23 games (since 7/8), batting .366 (30×82) with 16 runs scored, 7doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs, 19 RBI and 12 walks. 

Class A High Desert

The Mavs managed just five hits in a 4-2 loss to Inland Empire. Guillermo Pimentel hit a two-run homer. Lonnie Kauppila, who was promoted from Class A Clinton, had two hits.

  • From the Report:  RH Andrew Kittredge struck out a career-high 7 batters in 3.1 perfect innings on July 25 at Rancho Cucamonga. He is averaging 12.53 strikeouts per 9.0 innings over 32 relief appearances with High Desert (90 SO/64.2 IP). Ovearall this season he has struck out a career-high 95 batters in 71.2 innings combined between High Desert (90), Jackson (3) and Everett (2) in 36 appearances. He currently ranks T3rd among all Mariners minor league pitchers in strikeouts. 

Class A Clinton

The LumberKings had five pitchers to combine for the shutout and Chantz Mack provided the offense with a solo homer in a 1-0 win over Quad Cities.  Starter Eddie Campbell tossed 6 2/3 shutout innings, allowing five hits, while striking out two.

  • From the Report: C Marcus Littlewood currently has a 10-game hit streak, batting .378 (14×37) with 7 runs scored, 1 double, 2 triples, 1 home run, 7 RBI and 8 walks. OF Chantz Mack is batting .435 (10×23) with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 10 RBI and 1 walk during his current 5-game hit streak. INF Justin Seager has hit safely in each of his last 6 games, batting .385 (10×26) with 3 runs scored, 4 RBI and 2 walks.

Short A Everett

The Aqua Sox dropped a 7-6 decision at Eugene. Austin Cousino went 3-for-4 with a RBI. Tyler O’Neill had two hits and drove in two runs. Starter Jefferson Medina pitched four innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Rookie League Pulaski

The Mariners split a doubleheader with Danville. They lost 2-1 in the opener and picked up a 1-0 win the nightcap. Estarlyn Morales homered in the win.

  • From the Report: Estarlyn Morales has hit safely in 14 of his last 17 games, batting .393 (24×61) with 14 runs scored, 5 doubles, 2 triples, 3home runs, 14 RBI, 8 walks and 4 stolen bases.

Rookie League Arizona

The game was postponed because of rain
