Mariners lose 13 minor leaguers to free agency

The Mariners have 13 players minor league players reach free agency today. Baseball America has the list for all teams in the big leagues. No real surprises here. Moises Hernandez, the brother of Felix Hernandez, is planning on retiring.

As expected, Blake Beavan opted for free agency. The Mariners were ready to move on. It means the last remaining player from the Cliff Lee trade is gone from the organization.

Gabe Noriega had a solid season for Class AAA Tacoma. But his bat doesn’t really translate to the big league level.

Burt Reynolds, the cousin of Robinson Cano, will probably re-sign with the organization.

Xavier Avery was acquired in a trade that sent Michael Morse to the Orioles last season.
