Fall’s pumpkin-palooza will add spice to your life

You really don’t need a calendar these days to tell what month it is. One sniff at your favorite coffee shop, candle store, bakery, brewery or beauty store, and the scent of pumpkin in the air will let you know it’s October.

From beer to body wash, pumpkin has become the reigning champ of fall flavors. Even if you’ve already thrown down several pumpkin spice lattes, chowed a dozen pumpkin donuts and guzzled a pack or two of pumpkin beer, there are still plenty of other pumpkin products to check out.

Demeter Pumpkin Pie Perfume ($6–$39.50 at demeterfragrance.com). It may not quite compare to the smells coming from a Thanksgiving kitchen, but it comes pretty darn close.

Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie Vodka ($10 at BevMo). Back for a limited time after its seasonal debut last year, this flavored vodka tastes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and whipped cream.

Arcona Pumpkin Lotion ($35 at Nordstrom). Pumpkin extracts — along with a little glycolic acid — are used in this body lotion to improve tone and repair sun-damaged skin.

Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Lip Gloss ($8 at Bath & Body Works). You’ll really want to lick your lips when they’re covered in this sheer, shimmery gloss.

Philosophy Homemade Pumpkin Pie 3-in-1 ($16.50 at philosophy.com). This shampoo/body wash/bubble bath smells spicy and comforting — just like our favorite fall dessert.

Kahlua Pumpkin Spice ($55 at BevMo). Available through Dec. 31, the latest flavor offering from Kahlua tastes great in a Pumpkin Martini (mix with equal parts vodka and serve cold).

Gourmet Tails Pumpkin Biscotti Dog Treats ($6 at Petco). Why should Fido miss out on the pumpkin-palooza of fall? These crunchy cookies look good enough to try yourself.

Pumpkin Spice M&Ms ($3). Target is the exclusive retailer of this new flavor.

Glade Pumpkin Spice Premium Room Spray ($3 at drugstores). When a candle is too subtle, spray your room — or even your whole house — with pumpkin. It smells of cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, caramel, pumpkin and molasses.

Maine Root Pumpkin Pie Soda ($26 for 12 bottles at maineroot.com). Made with cinnamon, cloves and allspice, the company claims it’s “like pumpkin pie in a bottle!”

Smashing Pumpkin Beer Soap ($7.50 at thebeersoapcompany.com). Pumpkin scented grooming products aren’t just for the gals. This manly soap contains roasted pumpkin mixed with malt liquor, hops, fruit and spices.
