Locavore: Scents that evoke the Northwest

By Bree Coven Brown / Special to Sunday Market

Sweet-anthem_0112_630Find your signature scent in 2014 and start the New Year on a sweet note.

Sweet Anthem Handmade Perfumes are blended by hand by Meredith Smith in her West Seattle studio. Smith calls the multi-layered scents “bottled stories you can read on your skin.”

Many, such as the woodsy Madeline and the piney-rainy Elliott, evoke the Pacific Northwest. Anita is an intoxicating mint-mocha-coffee blend. Trailblazers can also request a customized scent.

All are 100 percent vegan, preservative-free, GMO-free, nut-free and never tested on animals.

$12–$48 at sweetanthem.com; Sweet Anthem Studio, West Seattle; and Velouria, Ballard
