Kids’ shop: A binkie you can get behind

By Bree Coven Brown / Special to Sunday Market

ecopaci_0119_630Comfort baby with a 100-percent-natural pacifier that’s free of chemical additives.

The Ecopacifier, from Ecopiggy in Ashland, Ore., is made of biodegradable rubber from trees that are sustainably grown in Malaysia. It’s BPA-, PVC-, paraben- and phthalate-free and is made without the chemical softeners and colorants typically used in silicone or plastic pacifiers.

The nipple, shield and handle are molded into a single piece for safety — no small pieces means no choking hazards. Dubbed “nature’s nubbie,” the Ecopacifier comes in two styles, rounded and orthodontic, and two sizes, 0–6 months and 6 months and up.

$7.49–$7.75 at Bootyland Kids, Capitol Hill; Whole Foods; and ecopiggy.com
