Tech savvy: Deck out your devices in chic cases and carriers

Long gone are the days when the words “tech” and “stylish” were rarely uttered in the same sentence. Whether you’re using your devices on the go, at home or in the office, being technologically tethered has never been so chic.

Keep covered

Don’t let those sleek phones and tablets go unprotected. Instead, button, zip and snap them up in smart cases that keep them safe while showing your personality.

The multicolored Merona Printed Phone Case Wallet ($13 at Target), with removable strap, keeps your phone and cards in one handy spot. For tablets, the classically striped Leather iPad Mini Sleeve ($88 at anthropologie.com) and feminine Ted Baker London Slim Bow Tablet Case ($165 at Nordstrom) in pale green add a dose of glam to an ensemble.

For men, the Gentleman’s Hardware iPad Case ($49 at West Elm) is a rugged alternative, while Zara’s Studded Tablet Cover ($50 at Zara, downtown) is edgy and urban.

Let your case speak for itself with the cheeky Hello Hello iPhone 5 or Galaxy S4 Case ($34–$36 at riflepaperco.com) or Kate Spade New York Get Out Of Town iPad Folio (on sale for $59 at Kate Spade New York, downtown).

Artists or doodlers will want to check out Papernomad’s Akiko Sleeve for Macbook Air ($60 at Eurostyle Your Life, Westlake, and store.griffintechnology.com). It’s made of water- and tear-resistant padded paper that can be written or drawn on for ultimate customization. There are also versions for the iPad, iPhone 4 and 5, and Samsung Galaxy phones.

On-the-go style

Pack fun accessories for mobile entertainment, power boosts and data sharing. Back up your work in style with a chic black Kate Spade New York Bow USB ($50). Or go for a pop of color with Eastern Collective’s Lightning to USB cable ($26 at Nordstrom), perfect for data transfers or charging your Apple gadgets.

Ban.do’s Botanical iPhone 5 Backup Battery ($38 at Anthropologie) is the cutest way to recharge at a moment’s notice. Get a secret power boost with Handbag Butler’s Mighty Purse ($98–$100 at Amazon.com), a wristlet that comes in an array of colors and charges your phone via a micro-USB port.

Replace your standard white earbuds with something a bit more glam, such as Frend’s Ella B Earbuds ($99 at Nordstrom), in rose gold and white. Or make your music easier to share with Native Union’s Monacle Speaker (on sale for $25 at West Elm), which can be used as a headphone or speaker and comes in hues such as mint and coral.

Pack it up

Your tech bag should be a mix of function (it should protect your gear and be comfortable) and form (it should look good).

Baggu’s Canvas Tote ($28 at Butter Home, Capitol Hill) is made of recycled canvas in a sailor stripe and features a cross-body strap. Marc by Marc Jacobs’ Pretty Commuter Case ($128 at Nordstrom) is compact enough to go anywhere, and packs a lot of punch with a vibrant jade print. For sleek and refined, check out Zara’s Combined Office Citybag ($80), which pairs a vibrant red tablet case with a black-and-white structured satchel.

Looking for a backpack? Herschel Supply Co’s Little America Medium Backpack ($90 at Nordstrom) and Brenthaven’s Collins Convertible Backpack in Indigo Chambray ($90 at Brenthaven, Capitol Hill) are modern classics. Both have interior laptop sleeves and media pockets so you can stay connected wherever you wander.
