Eco chic: Roll out sweet treats with locally made tool

Turnco_0413_630

By Bree Coven Brown / Special to Sunday Market

Planning some serious baking for Easter? Invest in a Turnco Wood Goods French Rolling Pin, made on Whidbey Island from Forest Stewardship Council-certified lumber and local wood.

Husband-and-wife woodworkers Kelly and Janae Cameron fashion madrona and walnut wood into the elegant rolling pins. They’re finished with all-natural oil and beeswax conditioner to preserve and highlight the wood’s natural patterns.

The sawdust and shavings from the rolling pins are recycled as goat bedding, and scrap wood becomes kindling for winter.

Each rolling pin comes in a screen printed felt bag.

$50–$59 at NuBe Green (Capitol Hill) and squareup.com/market/turnco-wood-goods
