You change out your thrown pillows each season — so why not your lamp shades as well?
An Olympia mother-daughter team makes it easy with RD Shady Covers, interchangeable covers that zip up over a plain white base.
Kathy Lathrop and Lara Anderson invented the system as an alternative to costly custom lampshades. The covers, made in Seattle and Olympia, work with the company’s Starter Kit, which includes the basic lamp shade, harp, lamp shade adapter and finial.
From there, you can add as many covers as you’d like, along with matching pillow covers, table runners and night lights.
$20-$24 for starter kits and $30-$59 for covers at Retrofit Home (Capitol Hill), Capers (West Seattle) and rdshady.com
