Eco chic: Textiles inspired by Pacific NW icons

By Bree Coven Brown / Special to Sunday Market

WheelPillow_0713_480Accessorize your home with sustainably handmade textiles that capture all that is beautiful about the Pacific Northwest.

Sage & Kai’s modern pillow covers and cloth coasters are screen printed with original photography of Puget Sound seabirds and icons such as Seattle’s Great Wheel and the Bainbridge Island ferry.

All designs are handcrafted on Bainbridge Island using certified organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, Eco-fi felt (made from recycled soda bottles) and other eco-friendly or repurposed fabrics. Only water-based, nontoxic and low-impact inks are used in a screen-printing process that adds no added chemicals and produces little waste.

Coasters, $20; pillow covers, $38–$42 at etsy.com/shop/sageandkai
