Locavore: Hardwood pieces make game special

By Bree Coven Brown / Special to Sunday Market

KingsGame_0713_576Go outside and play with Fruitsuper Design’s King’s Game, a locally designed, made-in-America version of the classic Swedish lawn game Kubb.

An activity for all ages, King’s Game is perfect for the backyard, or to take to the park or beach. It can be played by two to 12 people on any flat surface.

The goal is to knock over blocks by throwing wooden pieces, aiming to knock down the king before your opponent does — sort of like bowling mixed with chess.

This version contains 21 solid birch pieces and an illustrated rule book, packaged in a natural canvas bag sewn in Seattle.

$172 at fruitsuperdesign.3dcartstores.com; enter SUMMERLOVE at checkout for 30 percent off through July 31.
