Eco chic: Plywood gets a new life as modern furniture

By Bree Coven Brown / Special to Sunday Market

waterfall-bench_600_0201Plywood salvaged from the scrap pile is transformed into functional art by woodworker Steve Lawler of Tacoma’s rePly Furniture.

Lawler handcrafts his modern furniture and finishes it with eco-friendly water-borne polyurethane and a hand-rubbed Danish oil finish.

Pieces range from a 2-by-2-inch Small Stash Box to a show-stopping Waterfall Bench (shown), with walnut edging and a splash of aqua color on the legs.

$24–$1,530 at replyfurniture.com
