Eco chic: Locally made candles keep a light touch

By Bree Coven Brown / Special to Sunday Market

TorchIllumination_314_0215Light up your Seattle-area home with candles made here by a native Seattleite.

Torch Illumination Co. candles are made by Lisa Ravenel, who hand-pours all-natural soy wax into recyclable tin containers. She adds locally sourced fragrant oils and cotton wicks to create environmentally responsible, portable relaxation. The subtle scents include sugared eucalyptus, blood orange, currant, almond, lavender lemon and vanilla sweetgrass.

Torch’s labels, which are 100 percent recycled, feature iconic illustrations of Mount Rainier and the Space Needle. Ravenel donates 10 percent of net proceeds to environmental conservation groups.

$10–$12 each at Portage Bay Goods (Fremont) and torchillumination.com
