Locavore: Swap your metallics for pop of plastic

By Bree Coven Brown / Special to Sunday Market

DaveSheely_400_0215“Plastic is the new gold,” proclaims Dave Sheely, who handcrafts bold jewelry pieces from industrial-grade, pressure-cast urethane in his studio in West Seattle.

His Dave Sheely Designs pieces are just as durable as the precious metal — scratch-resistant and practically shatterproof. Drop one of his rings on the ground and it bounces, waiting for you to pick it and put it back on again.

Necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings are available in an array of on-trend colors such as florescent green, orange-red, and ombré green and blue. The material is UV-stable, so it won’t warp, yellow or fade in the sun.

$15–$60 at etsy.com/shop/davesheelydesigns
