Microsoft pays $200M to VirnetX to settle patent case

Microsoft is paying VirnetX $200 million to settle patent-infringement lawsuits the Internet security company filed. Both cases will be dismissed from the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Texas.

The payment will be made in one lump sum. Neither company released any other details about the settlement. VirnetX is based in Scotts Valley, Calif.
