On tap Monday: Microsoft Xbox Kinect news, Apple iCloud, Windows 8

Expect two tech announcements on Monday from Microsoft and its competitor Apple.

Microsoft Xbox Kinect. At 9:30 a.m., Microsoft will hold its annual news conference at the E3 video game conference. Seattle Times tech columnist Brier Dudley will be covering it in Los Angeles, Calif., and you can follow the coverage on his blog. You can also watch the webcast live here at 9:30a.

Apple iCloud. The Associated Press reports that Apple is expected to announce iCloud Monday. The report says it is a cloud computing service to store music online on Apple servers that users could access from different Internet-connected devices. Microsoft offers the competing music service Zune, and is building many of its products in the cloud, including Azure, Xbox Live and Office 365 coming on June 28.

Windows 8. Tech columnist Brier Dudley writes about Windows 8 in his Monday column. He says Microsoft’s work on Windows 8 proves that rumors of Windows’ demise are greatly exaggerated.
