Microsoft opens 10th retail store in Houston with Kelly Clarkson

microsoft store houston galleria.jpgMicrosoft opened its 10th retail store Friday in Houston at the Galleria mall.

On Saturday, singer Kelly Clarkson will give a free concert to the first customers who made it to the store this morning. The Microsoft Facebook page reports that all the wristbands for concert entry have been given out.

This is one of several retail stores Microsoft has opened over the past 18 months in a strategy to connect consumers with Microsoft’s brand. It’s a business move copied from Apple, which has over 200 stores.

Next Thursday, Microsoft is set to open its fourth store in Los Angeles at Westfield Century City. Still missing: a store in New York.
