Microsoft’s sites, including MSN, MSNBC, Bing, Microsoft.com, and others, were the second most-visited sites in the U.S. in December, trailing only Google sites, according to research company comScore.
Microsoft sites drew 177.3 million unique visitors last month. Google sites drew 187.1 million and Yahoo sites, in third place, drew 176.5 million. Facebook and Amazon sites rounded out the top five.
The rankings among the top five were the same in November 2011, but different from October, when Yahoo was in the No. 2 position, Microsoft in No. 3, and AOL in No. 5. (AOL fell to No. 6 in comScore’s December rankings.)
