Skype for Windows Phone beta released

Skype announced Sunday the release of its Windows Phone beta app, with the final version scheduled to be released in April.

The beta version is available for download now for those with Windows Phones.

This means Skype is now finally available on its new owner’s — Microsoft’s — mobile smartphone platform. A Skype app is already available for the iOS and Android platforms.

The Skype for Windows Phone beta will allow users to make free audio and video calls over 3G and 4G or WiFi, make affordable calls to landlines and mobiles using Skype Credit, and create and hold one-to-one and group chats, according to the Skype’s official Big Blog.
