Bing makes search more social

Over the next several weeks, Microsoft will be rolling out a major update to its Bing search engine that will include a “social sidebar” with recommendations from friends and experts.

Microsoft calls the update — to be broadly available in the U.S. in June — “the most significant since Microsoft launched Bing three years ago.”

In addition to the social sidebar, the new three-column design will also feature new snapshot feature, which Microsoft said will feature actionable information that makes it easier to accomplish tasks such as making restaurant reservations.
