Research firm IDC is predicting that Windows Phone, despite its slow start, will be the world’s No. 2 smartphone platform by 2016.
IDC believes Windows Phone sales will be aided by Microsoft’s smartphone partner, Nokia’s, strength in key emerging markets, according to a news release.
IDC also predicts Android will maintain its lead as the most-shipped smartphone operating system during that time but that its share of the market will peak this year.
