Business Insider is reporting that Microsoft is buying social-enterprise startup Yammer, citing a source inside Yammer who said “the office is abuzz” with talk of the (probable?) acquisition.
Yammer provides private social networking for companies, enabling employees to collaborate easier.
Microsoft already has its own collaboration software for businesses: SharePoint.
Microsoft said it isn’t commenting on rumor and speculation.
[Update June 14 7:40 a.m.: A Yammer spokeswoman said: “This story is a rumor and we don’t comment on rumors.”]
