Microsoft signs two more companies to its Android licensing program
Microsoft announced today that it’s reached licensing agreements with Aluratek and Coby Electronics for devices manufactured by the companies running Android or Chrome OS.
Microsoft claims that Android and Chrome OS include technologies that infringe on Microsoft’s patents. With today’s agreements, that means more than 70 percent of all U.S. Android devices are licensed under Microsoft’s program, the company said.
Microsoft says it’s entered into 1,100 licensing agreements since 2003, when it launched its intellectual property licensing program.
