Windows Server 2012 released to manufacturing

Microsoft’s big-launch fall seems to be chugging along on schedule with the announcement today that Windows Server 2012 has been released to manufacturing and will be generally available on Sept. 4.

Microsoft had also announced today that Windows 8 was released to manufacturing as well.

In addition, Microsoft announced today that the final build of Visual Studio 2012 has been completed. A developer event scheduled for Sept. 12 in Redmond will include hands-on with Visual Studio 2012.

Also: MSDN subscribers will receive free, one-time, 12-month Windows Store and Windows Phone Developer accounts, which allows developers to create, publish and sell apps, the company said.
