In a score for Microsoft, its Bing search engine will be the default search provider on Amazon.com’s Kindle Fire HD.
Microsoft confirmed that fact, first reported by the site Ubergizmo. But the company declined to give details of how the deal came about.
Bing has slowly gained usage share but seems currently stalled around 15 percent of U.S. searches, while Google dominates with about 66 percent. Microsoft recently launched a “Bing It On” campaign, challenging users to a “blind taste test” of sorts to see which search engine they like better.
