Windows Phone Marketplace now called Windows Phone Store

The online store where Windows Phone users can buy apps used to be called the Windows Phone Marketplace. Now Microsoft is changing the name to Windows Phone Store.

“By doing so, we’re following the lead of Windows 8 and its Windows Store for apps and games,” the Windows Phone team said in an offiicial blog post. The two will also share the same store icon:

In addition to the name change, changes have been made to the Windows Phone store to allow for easier searching and browsing among the more than 100,000 apps, according to Microsoft.

The Windows Phone website, meanwhile, now features a cleaner design.
