Microsoft announces plans for San Francisco marketing studio

Microsoft announced that it plans to open a design-led marketing studio in San Francisco geared toward bringing together brands and advertisers with Microsoft researchers and technologies.

Microsoft says the studio, to be called Solution Studio 415, could be the first of several that Microsoft Advertising hopes to launch worldwide. It is scheduled to open in early December.

“Our ultimate goal is to bring the same kind of design-led thinking that birthed the Kinect and Arc Touch Mouse to the table, to help marketers engage in rich and relevant ways with their customers, and solve some of the toughest marketing challenges along the way,” the company said in a blog post.

Solution Studio 415 is not intended to be an ad agency and the end result of the collaborations might not even result in ads, according to Microsoft.

Rather, the studio is designed to bring together Microsoft design-led thinkers and technologists with members of the partnering brand company to create marketing ideas for the brand partner, using some of the latest Microsoft research and product and platform releases.
