Bing and Klout partner up

Microsoft has been adding more and more social elements to its Bing search engine.

Its latest move: partnering up with — and making a “strategic investment” in — social-influence-measuring company Klout.

Here’s where people will see the partnership in play, according to the official Bing blog:

On Bing, we will surface Klout scores and influential topics for many of the experts in the People Who Know section of the sidebar. …

As part of Klout’s recently unveiled moments feature, we’ll begin surfacing Bing highlights on some Klout users profiles, demonstrating how search can be a powerful new indicator of online influence.

The blog post does not outline the specific terms of the agreement and a Microsoft spokeswoman says that’s not something the company is disclosing. The official Klout blog says that both companies have signed a multi-year agreement “where Bing will become one of Klout’s most significant partners.”
