Windows 8 launch event to be held at NYC’s Pier 57

Invitations went out this morning specifying the exact location of Microsoft’s Windows 8 launch event Oct. 25 in New York City. It will be held at Pier 57 on the Hudson River, just south of the Chelsea Piers.

The event, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., also includes a “Microsoft Surface Reception,” so presumably attendees will be able to actually get their hands on the devices and play around with them a bit, as they were unable to do so during the announcement of the Surface tablets earlier this year. (At that event, it was mostly a look-but-don’t-touch affair, and when we were allowed to touch the tablets and keyboard covers, it was with the machines off.)
