Barnes & Noble Nook app comes to Windows 8

Barnes & Noble has launched its Nook app for Windows 8, one of the goals the two companies had when it formed a partnership earlier this year.

The Nook app offers access to 3 million books, magazines, newspapers & comics, with the ability to try some books and Newsstand titles free for two weeks.

Microsoft is investing $300 million in Nook Media LLC, the subsidiary formed by Barnes & Noble and Microsoft that is focused on digital reading and digital education. Microsoft has also committed $180 million over three years in revenue-sharing guarantees and will contribute $125 million over five years to help the subsidiary expand into international markets.
