Microsoft signs two European manufacturers to Android patent licensing deals

Microsoft has signed two European manufacturers — EINS and Hoeft & Wessel AG — to its Android patent licensing program.

EINS manufactures Android tablets under the Cat brand in Germany, while Hoeft & Wessel manufactures handheld devices and terminals for the public transportation, logistics and retail industries in Europe, according to Microsoft.

Microsoft contends that some features of Google’s Android use Microsoft’s patented technologies. EINS and Hoeft & Wessel will pay Microsoft undisclosed royalties for use of those technologies in the Android devices that they manufacture.
