128 GB Surface Pro orders now being taken at online Microsoft Store
Quite a few would-be Surface Pro buyers were frustrated when they found out — following the launch of the Surface Pro last weekend — that many places didn’t carry it (especially the 128 GB version) and that, in many cases, it wasn’t even possible to place an order.
Microsoft has an update today, saying that now, people can place an order for the 128 GB Surface Pro at the online Microsoft Store, with the shipment happening in two to three weeks, based on incoming inventory. “Once inventory is depleted, the system will show as ‘out of stock’ until new inventory is available to ship,” according to the Microsoft Surface blog. (The 64 GB Surface Pro has been available at the online Microsoft Store since launch.)
In addition, inventory levels are increasing at Best Buy stores, Microsoft said in the blog post, and users can make reservations for a Surface Pro if the Best Buy store has new inventory coming in in the next week. (As of Friday evening, the only Best Buy in the Seattle area that had the 128 GB Surface Pro available for pickup was the one in Silverdale.)
Microsoft also said many Staples stores have Surface Pro units for sale, or that orders can be placed for the 64 GB version. (The Staples website lists the 128 GB version as out of stock.)
