For the month of August — just in time for back to school shopping, presumably — Microsoft is cutting the price of the Surface Pro by $100.
Through Aug. 29, the 64 GB Surface Pro costs $799 and the 128 GB Surface Pro costs $899. Those prices do not include the attachable keyboard covers, which cost $120 for the flatter Touch Cover and $130 for the more traditional-feel Type Cover.
Last month, the company cut the price of the Surface RT by $150, writing down $900 million in its fiscal fourth quarter earnings in order to do so. That price drop for the Surface RT, unlike the one for the Surface Pro, does not have a time limit.
Microsoft has also cut the price of the optional Surface Pro Bundle — which includes a 2-year warranty, Office Home and Student 2013, Type Cover, a Surface sleeve and screen protector — from $479 to $310. That offer is good until Sept. 29.
