Microsoft emphasizes mobile, social insights in new Dynamics CRM release

Microsoft is emphasizing mobile-first and social connections in its latest customer relationship management (CRM) software releases.

The company released its Dynamics CRM Online Fall ’13 earlier this month. At the end of this month, people will be able to buy on-premises and partner-hosted versions.

As part of the CRM licenses that companies pay for those services, Microsoft is now also adding some mobile experiences at no additional cost.

Microsoft has designed new CRM apps for Windows tablets and iPads. Later this month, it will release new apps for Windows Phone, Android phones and iPhones. (The company is working on building an app for Android tablets.)

The new release also includes Yammer, Lync and Skype integration.

In addition, with the new release, Microsoft is partnering with InsideView, which offers social and leadership insights into companies. InsideView says it aggregates some 30,000 different sources of data to present social intelligence on companies. Microsoft and InsideView’s partnership is resulting in something called Social Insights, which provides information such as company hierarchy, connections that a user might have to reach specific people within a target company, and contact information. Social Insights will be part of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online and will be available to those with Professional licenses in the United States on Oct. 30. A global rollout is planned for 2014.
