Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 now globally available

Microsoft said today that Internet Explorer 11 is available for download today worldwide.

The company says it will begin automatically updating Windows 7 customers to IE11 starting today.

Microsoft says IE11 is faster (with faster page loading, interactivity and JavaScript performance), and reduces CPU usage and improves battery life on mobile devices.

Some of the engineers who worked on IE11 talk about their favorite features in this video from Microsoft (although most of the things they talk about are most applicable to Windows 8/8.1 touch devices, not Windows 7 mouse-and-keyboard PCs):
