Microsoft has sold more than 3 million Xbox One units since the console’s launch in late November, the company said today.

“It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November,” Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of Xbox marketing, said in an official blog post today. “Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.”

We are contacting Sony to see if it has an update on the number of PlayStation 4 consoles it sold in 2013. In early December, Sony said it had sold more than 2.1 million units in its first 16 days on the market.
